For nearly eight years, some 250,000 Israelis have lived under the daily threat of missiles fired at them from the Gaza Strip.
 
On December 27th, 2008, Israel responded with "Cast Lead," a military operation with a massive air strike on key Hamas positions in Gaza.  On Saturdya, Jan. 3 ground operations were launched.

Israel's Home Front Command moved swiftly into action, instructing residents within the newly expanded 25-mile radius of attacks (now including Beersheva and Ashdod) to remain inside their homes and follow critical security instructions.  more
