What brought us to Rockland County?
She: I grew up in the suburbs and wanted a nice, suburban community for my kids. But I’m a city girl at heart (we were living on the Upper West Side) so I wanted to be close enough to take in a Broadway show or go to the museums. And we really are!
He: Suffern is where I grew up and I work in the county. What can be better than a 10 minute commute, with grandparents nearby? more

So you left the UWS?
We were looking for space, a suburban town that didn't look like Brooklyn or Queens. We wanted the Catskills, but close to the city.

We lived in an apartment and were tired of going to the self-storage facility to get stuff for the changing seasons. We chose Rockland because one of us worked in New Jersey and the other in Midtown.

You settled where you grew up?
Now that we have a two-year-old dayghter, Maya, it feels so safe and familiar. There are good schools and now we're getting to do all the fun things we did as kids as parents, like walks to the park, the library for story time and playing in the snow.
