Estelle Eisenkraft
JCC Rockland's annual Wall of Giving event will recognize longtime community supporter Estelle Eisenkraft and JCC employee Donna Bergstol for their commitment to the organization.

The presentation to them, along with the unveiling of the names on the 2010-2011 Wall of Giving to recognize donors, will take place at a dessert reception on Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at JCC Rockland, 450 West Nyack Rd., West Nyack.

The Wall of Giving represents one of JCC Rockland's most important annual campaigns. The funds raised support numerous cultural, social and recreational programs that are offered to the community.

Eisenkraft's involvement in community service and leadership began soon after she and Allan, her husband of 48 years, along with their three daughters Sharon, Meryl and Debbie, moved to Rockland County from the Bronx in 1970. Nanuet Hebrew Center became their focal point at the time and remains a focus of Eisenkraft's volunteerism 40 years later.

She is a longtime board member of Hadassah, State of Israel Bonds Women's Division and of Jewish Federation of Rockland County. She believes in active philanthropy, and works for many charitable organizations. She is a staunch supporter of Jewish Family Service, Meals on Wheels, and Jawonio.

She is a Life Member of Hadassah, Jewish Women International (formerly B'nai B'rith Women), Brandeis University Women and Na'Amat (in Florida)

Yet for Eisenkraft, it is the one-on-one connection that has the most meaning.

"My greatest achievement is being a pro bono b'nai mitzvah teacher to adults and Hebrew school students for the past 20 years," she said.

She and Allan both played integral roles in bringing the JCC to Rockland County. Their name adorns the gymnasium and they continue to support the organization as it move forward.

"Estelle has a generous heart and always greets people with a  welcoming smile," said JCC President Joel Zbar. "Her commitment to the JCC is longstanding and we are delighted to be able to recognize her in this way."

Donna Bergstol
Donna Bergstol, the evening's other honoree, has worked as an administrative assistant at JCC Rockland for the past 10 years.

"I love the work we do for the community, and the fact that everyone, regardless of race or religion, can feel welcome here," said Bergstol. "I'm grateful that the JCC has become my second family.

Bergstol is best known as the person who greets the public at the JCC's front desk, where she is beloved by seniors and children alike. When not doting on her two sons Jon and Kristoffer, she also offers support to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"Donna has been with us 10 years. She's the face people see when they walk in the building and is never anything less than warm and welcoming," said David Kirschtel, chief executive officer of JCC Rockland. ""Donna personifies our tagline, 'You belong here,' because she makes every member feel special. Thank God she belongs here."
