About Us

The Jewish Federation of Rockland County leads efforts that strengthen Jewish life and meet the critical needs of the Jewish community in Rockland County, Israel, and around the world. A non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, The Jewish Federation of Rockland recently received the highest four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Locally, Rockland Federation’s efforts include:

• PJ Library, a program that currently serves over 300 children with free monthly books as well as special events for young families.
• Leadership Development Institute (LDI), now in its fourth year of training the next generation of local Jewish leaders.
• Rockland Jewish Initiative (RJI), which is aimed at re-energizing synagogue life with membership incentive grants, programming grants and communal programs.
• Adult Jewish Education, with more than 100 adults studying each week in various classes including the Florence Melton Adult Mini School and Midreshet Rockland.

Through our overseas partners (listed at right) we provide services in Israel and worldwide, wherever there are Jews in need. We support programs like the Ethiopian National Project, which has staunched a high dropout rate among Ethiopian immigrants in Israel by encouraging them to get higher degrees, and food assistance programs for elderly residents in Eastern Europe.
