Dr. Conrad L. Giles, President, World ORT

Dr. Conrad L. Giles has been involved in World ORT for over 35 years, as a vice president of the American ORT Federation, a member of the ORT American executive committee, and deputy president of World ORT. Well-known on the national Jewish stage, he was long involved in the Council of Jewish Federations in various posts, serving ultimately as president. He was elected vice chairman of the board of trustees of the merged UJA/CJF, United Jewish Communities. He has served as chair of the Jewish Council of Public Affairs, as a member of the board and executive committees of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and of the board of governors and executive committee of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Long involved with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, Dr. Giles served as president and chairman of the executive committee as well as president of the Michigan Jewish Conference and as regional chairman and national vice chairman of UJA. He is a recipient of Federation’s Frank A Wetsman Young Leadership Award. Dr. Giles is the Chief Emeritus of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
