8,000 Paperclips, a documentary by Nitsan Tal, follows Israeli artist Raffael Lomas as he travels to Uganda to work with South Sudanese refugee children who grew up in Israel and were later deported. The film follows Lomas and the children as they create an artwork together and visit Uganda’s Abayudaya Jewish community, exploring through these encounters questions of home, displacement, identity and the power of human connection.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with director Nitsan Tal and one of the directors of the Israeli NGO Become, which has been supporting the children’s education since their deportation.
