Broadway Voices of Today & Tomorrow at MJC Montebello, New York:
Montebello Jewish Center will present an evening of Broadway Voices of Today & Tomorrow, on Saturday, November 3rd at 7:00 pm. The concert will feature Broadway performers Janelle A. Robinson and J.D. Webster, with guest appearances by MJC’s own Cantor Michelle Rubin and Teen and Youth Choirs. .Janelle Anne Robinson has enjoyed an ongoing professional career on the operatic and musical theater stage. Her Broadway credits include Mary Poppins, in which she originated the role of Mrs. Cory, Oklahoma and Showboat. Her National Tours include Thoroughly Modern Millie and Showboat. She received a Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School, an Advanced Certificate in Voice from the Juilliard School and a Master of Music from The Curtis Institute. Presently, Ms.Robinson serves on the faculty at Western Connecticut State University and The Hartt School in their music theater departments.
J.D. Webster is a versatile artist acclaimed for his work on both the concert and theatrical stage. His Broadway credits include productions of Wonderful Town, Ragtime, Showboat, and as Mingo in the recent revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. As a concert artist, J. D. was featured with the Baltimore Symphony in Bernstein’s Mass (Naxos recording) and as Calvin in Guys and Dolls, both at Carnegie Hall. He is a graduate of the Julliard School.
Tickets are $36 in advance or $40 at the door and $10 for children 13 and younger. A dessert reception will follow the concert. The Montebello Jewish Center, which is currently celebrating its 100th year, is a Conservative synagogue, located at 34 Montebello Road, Montebello, NY.
