Covenant Against Hate and Antisemitism In Places of Business

Inspired by the Anti Defamation League, and New York State’s Division of Human Rights ‘No Place for Hate’ campaign, The Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County invites businesses and institutions in Rockland to join with us in keeping our County a safe and welcoming place for our Jewish community and all residents of this, the smallest but proudest County in New York State.

We undertake to confront antisemitism and hate in meaningful and effective ways. In our businesses, offices, classrooms and workplaces - indeed throughout our communities - we support education that defines and addresses hate and bias, and recognizes the pernicious nature of antisemitism among these.

We will consider and take disciplinary action if any members of our workplace community fail to maintain a hate-and-antisemitism-free environment in our businesses and institutions, in our communications, or where we are represented online.

We recognize that Rockland’s large Jewish community is both diverse and multifaceted. We intend to support the security and inclusion of our Jewish employees, customers, students and volunteers of all manner of identity, observance, and expression.

We will make efforts to reasonably accommodate the religious practices and needs of all of our employees - including our Jewish employees, particularly relating to holiday observances, sabbath, dietary needs and prayer, within our capabilities.

We will cooperate with the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County and other local Jewish organizations in positively leveraging experiences of hate and antisemitism as opportunities to learn, educate, facilitate dialogue, and move forward.
