Community Security Briefing 4/2/25

Wednesday evening, 4/2/25 Rockland Federation’s Community Security Initiative hosted the second annual Pre-Passover Security Briefing in Spring Valley. This is a proactive effort to bolster community safety ahead of major Jewish holidays and keep everyone up to date regarding overall threat levels and concerns.

There was a large turnout of community leaders, representatives from dozens of local institutions in CSI’s network, law enforcement, elected officials and leadership of several local community service organizations. Each speaker stressed the importance of interagency communication. It’s imperative to have all of these organizations aware of and prioritizing common needs and concerns in order to promote the safety and security of the entire Jewish Rockland community.

There was participation from the following law enforcement agencies: the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Rockland County Police Chief’s Association, New York State Police as well as Federal agencies.

The event was coordinated by Ethan Erlich, Regional Security Director for the Community Security Initiative. He stated, “While there is no specific credible threat at this time, the overall threat level since October 7th remains elevated. We recommend being vigilant about security for your institutions and events, reviewing emergency procedures and controlling access. Working with our law enforcement and intel partners, we continue to train, advise, consult and monitor the situation.” The Rockland Community Security Initiative has trained almost 2000 volunteers since 2022, and now counts over 250 local institutions within its security network.
