The story of Alina Gerlovin Spaulding is a miracle story in which we each share a part. The dollars raised by Federations like ours have allowed Alina to be part of the American Jewish community. Alina immigrated to this country in 1979. Her parents tried to leave the former Soviet Union for several years, but were granted permission only when the worldwide Jewish community stepped forth.
Alina is involved in humanitarian causes in the United States and overseas. Alina has been awarded a number of highly prestigious fellowships including; The Brandeis/ Bronfman Institute for Informal Jewish Education, the Covenant Fellowship program for Jewish Education, and the Day School Leadership Training Institute at Columbia University.
Alina currently serves her community as Head of School at the Akiva Jewish Day School of Nashville. Her story will inspire an educate people about what Federation dollars do in the United States and overseas.
