Federation Helps Rockland Prepare for Pesach

Nearly 70 members of our local Jewish community prepared for the Festival of Freedom by attending Federation’s “Morning of Learning” Passover classes on April 7.

Classes were taught by local Jewish experts including Dr. Martin Cohen, Rabbi Adam Baldachin, Leslie Goldress, Dr. Jill Hackell, Sharon Halper and Rabbi Daniel Pernick.

“Cooking With Leslie,” a culinary class led by Goldress, taught attendees how to adapt everyday recipes for the Passover kitchen. Participants helped Leslie prepare (and taste-test) delicious vegetable muffins and a colorful purple cabbage salad in the RJA kitchen next door.

After two sessions of morning classes, a crowd gathered around Cantor Barry Kanarek for a festive Passover sing-along.

Federation’s Morning of Learning was very well attended. According to Roberta Seitzman, Federation’s Director of Adult Jewish Education, “We had a record number of attendees at this year’s Passover classes, which sold out quickly. We are pleased that our Jewish education programs are so well received by the community.”

Seitzman is planning Federation’s next Jewish educational opportunity: a summer session of Jewish classes which will begin in late June and meet for four weeks.
