Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County held a spring outreach, education and fundraising event with guest speaker Orly Wahba on May 4. The event’s theme of “kindness” was chosen to highlight Federation’s responsibility of doing good and helping those in need.
Orly Wahba is an educator, entrepreneur and community activist passionate about inspiring and motivating people to be the best that they can be. She is the founder of Life Vest Inside, a non-profit organization with the mission to encourage people to embrace the incredible power of giving and recognize that in times of hardship, kindness –like a life vest– keeps the world afloat.
Attendees enjoyed one-on-one time and posed for photos with Orly at a VIP meet-and-greet, held prior to the main event. Following the meet-and-greet, guests enjoyed a buffet dinner and auction bidding on an array of donated items. Many guests purchased Kindness Key necklaces as well – special pieces of jewelry stamped with “BKind” which are intended to inspire kindness in our community. According to Federation President Andrea Weinberger, “Women are wearing our Kindness Key necklaces to motivate and touch others. And they can pass their necklace along when they see someone embodying the message to be kind.”
Beth Weiss-Dunn, Federation’s Operations Director, says the event connected women from many parts of the Rockland community while supporting Federation’s Annual Campaign. “It was a fun evening for all and a successful fundraiser for our 2016 Annual Campaign, which supports Jews in need in Rockland and worldwide.”
