Learn and Grow Jewishly, with Federation

The Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County offers a number of Jewish learning and engagement opportunities that will inform and inspire adults from all backgrounds. Programs are held in the Rockland Jewish Community Campus; upcoming opportunities are listed below and registration is open now!

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning is the largest pluralistic adult Jewish education network in the world. Rockland Federation offers the Melton Core Curriculum which is a comprehensive series of text-based lessons studied over two years. Midreshet Rockland courses run for 12 or 15 weeks beginning September 28 (Thursday classes begin October 20). Taught by popular local educators, classes include “The Writings of Elie Wiesel” with Rabbi Daniel Pernick, “The Children of Abraham (Islam)” with Sharon Halper, and more. The Global Day of Jewish Learning brings people together one day each year to celebrate our shared Jewish texts through community-based learning. This year, Global Day will take place on November 20 and the theme is “Under the Same Sky – The Earth is Full of Your Creations.” $18 includes two classes and brunch; read course descriptions and register online here.

Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is designed to develop the skills and commitment of up-and-coming Jewish communal volunteers. The goal of LDI is to strengthen Rockland’s Jewish leadership base, resulting in a more active and vibrant community.
