Rockland Synagogues Promoted on Supermarket Shelves

During the recent Passover season, a new ingredient was found in supermarket Passover aisles: free brochures of Rockland's synagogues.

Federation produced and printed the full-color, 16-page guide to Rockland shuls and Cantor Barry Kanarek, Director of Federation's Rockland Jewish Initiative (RJI) worked with local supermarkets to display the brochures in-store.

"More than ever, synagogues must go beyond the walls of the building to unaffiliated Jews.  This is one way to reach out when people are having a Jewish shopping experience" said Cantor Kanarek.

According to Kanarek, the plan is to continue and expand the program during the High Holidays in the Fall and Passover next Spring.

Federation would like to thank the following Rockland supermarkets for including our synagogue brochures in their Passover aisles: Fairway Market in Nanuet, ShopRite in New City, and Stop&Shop stores in New City, Nanuet and Orangeburg.
