Giving Thanks

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. We are truly blessed to be able to celebrate. One important precept of our Jewish tradition is to be thankful and to express that gratitude, whether it is to the Almighty or to our friends and neighbors. We use the term 'hakarat hatov' 'recognizing the good'. Think about it. Those words indicate that we need to do more than mumble a 'thank you' under our breath. We first need to recognize that our circumstances have changed positively, and then we need to understand the good that will come out of that change, if we embrace it and aspire to it.

It is that thought which makes Thanksgiving truly meaningful.

Thank you for your continuing partnership with and support for the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County!
