Meeting Our Community's Needs.

Since I joined Federation at the end of 2021, I've reached out to speak with many members of our community, to hear what their priorities and concerns are for Jewish life in Rockland. As well, many of you participated in our community survey in May, asking similar questions. With clarity, I can tell you that the two concerns I heard about the most - which our data supports - are security and antisemitism.

Objective data from other sources backs this up. Antisemitic incidents here have doubled from 2020 to 2021, including violence, intimidation, vandalism and harassment. Unfortunately this trend is not unique to Rockland. Our regional and national partners have recognized this as well, and with their help, we have sought to address our most compelling needs in these areas.

I am proud to share with you that the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County, working with partners from UJA New York and Jewish Federations of North America, is meeting the need to secure our community head-on. A few days from now, we will introduce Federation's personnel, partners and plans to raise the level of security for the entire Jewish community of Rockland. Stay tuned!
